Yuengling Brewery
Yuengling Brewery America’s oldest brewery is in a mountainous town of Pottsville, PA. It’s no surprise why D.G. Yuengling settled here in 1829 once you hear about the cave. Yes, back in early 1800s, there was no refrigeration and cave being constantly at 42F degrees was perfect for beer fermentation. View of Pottsville from the gift shop of Yuengling Cave Because there were structures on the ground level, explosives could not be used. The cave was completely dug out with hammer and chisel by many local miners who no longer had mining jobs in the late 1800s. Prohibition In 1919, during the prohibition of alcohol, the government ordered Yuengling to…

Centralia
Centralia Centralia, a close-knit town of coal miners once had over 1000 residents in the 60s. A fire that has been burning underground for the past 56 years turned Centralia into a ghost town, or a deserted town, to be more precise, with 6 residents remaining. It is a town whose zip code already taken away by the postal service, and its name almost erased by the government. Cemetries It’s sad to realize the best kept structures in town were cemeteries. Crab Rangoon
Crab Rangoon A Chinese restaurant appetizer that was never served in China, at least when I grew up, LOL! Though some people claim using real crab meat or imitation crab meat makes no difference in crab Rangoon, I beg to differ. It’s true we don’t need large lumps of crab meat, but real crab meat even just from legs of blue crab makes this appetizer so much more flavorful. The inside is creamy and wrap is perfectly crispy. Use a sweet and sour sauce, or simply eat it plain.

2018 Allentown Halloween Parade
2018 Allentown Halloween Parade A year has passed, last year’s parade seemed not long ago. Parkland Trojan was once again the biggest, grandest showing. However, there were so many other marching groups that were very interesting. I particularly like the French bulldogs and the kids on bikes. For the Trojans, Alex plays trumpet this year. A clarinet player, he’s such a natural with musical instruments! Allentown Band The oldest civilian concert band in the United States, Allentown Band has been in continuous existence since its first documented performance on July 4, 1828, although its origins may trace back to as early as 1822. French Bulldogs There are many more dogs…
