Day 5
Day 5 – 8/22/2016 A rainy, cold day :(. We planned a few hikes today, but had to change plan as the rain just kept on coming down. Coupled with 40 degree (F) temperature, it wasn’t very pleasant. Pictures on this page were mainly taken with iPhone as I didn’t want to get the Nikon soaked. Maligne Canyon Maligne Canyon is very deep with its deepest point near the 3rd bridge at 55 meters, it’s also very narrow, in some areas it’s even smaller than adults’ arm span. Day 4
Day 4 – 8/21/16 Icefields Parkway – a MUST!!! We checked out of Fairmont early in the morning, and headed toward Jasper National Park via Icefields Parkway. National Geographic calls it “one of the world’s ten greatest drives”. Stretching 230-km between Lake Louise and Jasper, this well maintained scenic drive offers easy access to many of the glacier lakes, ice fields and majestic viewpoints of Canadian Rockies. Though you can get to Jasper in under 3 hours with no stops, it took us 2 days to drive round trip. Hector Lake – Milepost 16-km Crowfoot Glacier – Milepost 33-km Bow Lake Lookout – Milepost 34-km Bow Lake Bow Lake is a…

Day 3 – 8/20/2016 Moraine Lake RockPile – 300m with elevation, short and easy, a Must! Parking at Moraine Lake is a challenge. We arrived at 8:30 and had to park about half a mile away along the road. We walked hurriedly to the Lake, and climbed 300 meters to the top of the RockPile, where the the classic “20 dollar bill” look presented itself in front of us. There were many people at the top of the RockPile so we decided to take a few steps and got on rocks below the viewing area. We marveled at the beautiful color and serenity of the lake. Minutes later, the wind…

Day 2
Day 2 – 8/19/2016 Lake Louise You probably have heard about Lake Louise, a lot about it if you are planning a trip to Banff. Words and pictures can not justify how beautiful it is, you simply have to see it with your own eyes. This is Lake Louise and Victoria Glacier casually lay in front of us in a bright sunny morning. There were a lot of people by the lake as it is very accessible. We got a parking spot inside a parking lot at 10:30 am, that was a miracle. After taking some customary pictures, we started our long and rewarding hike. Lake Louise to Lake Agnes – 3.5…
